Starting with homemade pickled brinjals, king chilies, and a few other varieties, she has already sold 30 kg of pickles, earning a total of ₹12,000 and a profit of ₹9,000 after covering costs. Beyond the numbers, her story is one of determination, courage, and creativity, applying the skills she learned in training to build something valuable for herself and her community. With plans to introduce new flavors, explore wider markets, and improve packaging, Arati Baido’s journey shows how a simple idea, combined with hard work and initiative, can blossom into a successful livelihood.</p>

<p>Tarali Fouzdar, a 30-year-old woman from Fouzdar Para, has carried the art of weaving within her for many years, an inherited skill she practiced quietly at home. What was once just a part of her daily routine has now grown into a meaningful source of livelihood. Through the support of Dharitri Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Tarali Baido began improving her weaving techniques and exploring better designs, which helped her strengthen both her confidence and productivity. Recently, she wove <strong>12 Chador Mekhala sets</strong>, returning <strong>6</strong> to the society and earning an income of <strong>₹3000 (6 × 500)</strong>. This achievement is more than just financial, it reflects how her long-held skills, when nurtured with guidance and dedication, can open new doors of opportunity. Tarali Baido’s journey shows how traditional knowledge, once refined and encouraged, can become a sustainable path toward self-reliance. Her story inspires many women around her to believe that what they have known for years can become the foundation of a brighter and more secure future.</p>

<p>Under the AYUSH activity, the target was to establish 150 family health gardens, but the program successfully achieved 215 gardens, surpassing the original goal. Community members actively participated in this initiative and were encouraged to grow and use plants with natural health benefits. A variety of medicinal and herbal plants were distributed to the participants to promote holistic health practices at home. These included <strong>Giloy, Kalmegh, Aloe vera, Ajwain patta, Brahmi, Pippali, Bosh, Lemongrass, Chitranala, Mehendi, Harjura,</strong> and <strong>Insulin Plant</strong>. By cultivating these plants, families not only enhanced their access to natural remedies but also became more aware of the importance of traditional health practices.</p>

<p>Hands-on training programme on soil testing were organized to help farmers better understand their soil and improve their farming practices. One of these sessions was held in collaboration with SESTA, bringing in additional technical support. <strong>Altogether, 33 farmers </strong>from different areas participated with great interest, gathering in the field to learn how to collect soil samples and interpret soil health. The practical demonstrations created an engaging learning environment, encouraging farmers to apply the techniques in their own fields for better crop planning and productivity.</p>

<p>A two-day training programme on mushroom cultivation was organised at Kakoijana GP and Chiponchila GP to help 50 ocal villagers learn practical and income-generating cultivation techniques. Both days of the training were facilitated by <strong>Dr. Dwiban Pujari, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK Bongaigaon, and Dr. Chayanika Hazarika Ray, PAC, KVK Bongaigaon</strong>, who guided participants through the full process of mushroom production, from preparation to management. The programme was conducted in collaboration with Dharitri Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Kakoijana, under the Snehpad Mission Samriddhi CDP Project, creating a meaningful opportunity for community members to build skills and explore new livelihood options.</p>

<p>Six Common Facility Centres (CFCs) were actively functioning, where a total of 33 looms were operated with two weavers working on each loom. These centres focused on the production of traditional items like <i>gamusa</i>, along with other clothing and furnishing products. The initiative not only supported local weavers but also contributed to the promotion of traditional handloom crafts and rural livelihoods.</p>

<p><strong>A Small Grant Project under UNDP was implemented as a three-year initiative focused on safeguarding the Kakoijana Reserve Forest and the conservation of the endangered Golden Langur. As part of the project, extensive plantation drives were conducted to restore and enhance forest cover. Alongside this, various other community-based programmes were undertaken to promote environmental awareness, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable practices among the local population.</strong></p>

<p>A total of 21 Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programmes (ESDP) were conducted across Assam and in Arunachal Pradesh, covering a wide range of topics such as training on Eri (silk production), handloom weaving, water hyacinth craft, and general accounting. These programmes were designed to equip the beneficiaries with practical skills and knowledge essential for income generation and self-employment. As a result, many participants have been able to apply what they learned to start or strengthen their livelihood activities, thereby contributing to their economic empowerment and local development</p>
